“The high-school assignment where we had to seek out internships was the best decision I have made in my career by far. I interned at Santa Paula Animal Rescue for a few years and then I was hired as a vet assistant, which was my first official job.

Thanks to the connections I have made through there, I have been able to expand my career opportunities and get paid to do what I love. The surgeon who worked at SPARC offered me a job at Fillmore Animal Hospital, where I work currently, and she has been an amazing mentor. I am doing another internship with a vet I met through there as well, and have been able to intern at various other clinics. I will be heading off to UC Davis animal science program in the fall as well, which I am super excited about. That internship opened so many doors for me and I have been able to explore various parts of veterinary medicine because of it.”
